Do the vitiligo patches spread over time?

Do the vitiligo patches spread over time?

Question: Do the vitiligo patches spread over time?

Answer: For many people the white patches spread and get larger over time. However, the way they spread is different for the two types of vitiligo and for every person who has vitiligo. In those with generalized vitiligo, the patches usually grow larger and spread over time but this can happen very slowly in some people and very quickly in others. The spread of generalized vitiligo is unpredictable.  Segmental vitiligo usually starts at a younger age  and the white patches spread more quickly but stay on one side of the body  or a local area. The spread of segmental vitiligo typically stops after 1-2 years.
